That would be awesome Guillaume =)

Yea, to a lot of us these tools are trivial, but to newbs they can seem foreign so I think they have their place in the archive. They also serve to help people determine what tools are available, even if a quick glance at the man page is all most people need for usage. Of course, these articles tend to be more practical than the man pages.

Yeah shutter is the new name of gscrot.

I guess I'll write an article about it then :) (though it's really simple to use)

thanks for your comments, Andrew, did gscrot rename to shutter?I just find that ubuntu users can add the apt sources.list entries here https://launchpad.net/~shutter/+archive/ppa

Guillaume, it sounds like we need an article on shutter as well =)

The tool I used to use was fbgrab (could capture virtual consoles). Now I read we have scrot, gscrot, shutter and many others. Maybe we should have an article that sums up the major GUI / CLI screenshot tools and then have an article for each tool regarding the installation / usage.

That was fast, thanks for the updates! I wasn't familiar with this particular tool. Thanks for telling me about it and sharing this stuff with the community.

Great work Kurt, you have my vote =)

Hey Kurt,

I've setup a draft with proposed changes (just to make it easier). You have most of the meat, but there are a few things missing and the formatting could use a little work. Please review that draft (I PMed you the link) and get back to me. For now I'll just hold off on rating the article.

Thanks =)
