Privileges

Member Warnings & Privileges

ITNewb monitors certain features and actions to help reduce the damage that can be caused by malicious users and spammers. We have automated processes in place that limit the number of times you can perform a given action in a 12 hour period, warn you when you begin to approach those limits, revoke your privilege to perform an action if you don't heed those warnings and even completely disable your account if there are multiple violations.

Warnings

Warnings are issued when you reach the 12 hour threshold limit for performing a given action. If you continue to perform that action in the same 12 hour period you'll receive a 2nd and last warning for that period. After your 2nd warning, if you perform the action once more in that 12 hour period your privilege to perform the action will be revoked.

Revocations

When the ITNewb website revokes a members privilege to perform an action, a notification is sent to ITNewb Moderators. At that point, a Moderator will investigate the account in question to determine whether to reinstate the privilege or take additional action against the account.

In the event 2 privilege revocations occur against the same account in a 12 hour period, the entire account will automatically be disabled until a Moderator can investigate.

Grants

When a privilege is enabled, it's called a "grant". There are 2 reasons grants occur: 1) a revoked privilege is reinstated; or 2) an account is issued "Moderator" status on ITNewb.

Appeals

ITNewb is cautious when it comes to issuing someone Moderator status, however, we understand there must be checks and balances in place. If you'd like to appeal an action taken by a Moderator or report a rougue Moderator, please submit an Abuse Ticket with the appropriate details.
