About ITNewb
Do you get tired of searching dozens of niche sites to find the tech content you need; or worse, you can't find any solid content on a topic at all?
ITNewb was born out of this frustration, and our mission is simple: create a free, centralized archive of exceptional, comprehensive articles for both novice and advanced users alike.
So whether you're a network engineer, a web developer or a stay-at-home mom who wants to connect with friends and family over the Internet, ITNewb is your source for technical learning and growth.
You're in Control
We're not powered by a small group of private writers and editors like many sites offering technical content, we're powered by you, the user. You get to both power and control the ITNewb archive by publishing articles directly from your account and reviewing and grading other submissions, which will determine whether we archive or scrap those submissions.
The editorial and grading process here at ITNewb is unique, one where everyone gets to weigh in, help authors improve their work post-publication and hopefully get it approved and archived.
In fact, during the 15 day review process we expect and encourage this collaboration because when we come together every article can have masterpiece potential.
Areas of Interest
ITNewb isn't restricted to a single facet of information technology like programming, web development or graphic design. You have free reign to write intros, guides, how-tos and other informative articles in the areas of development, graphic design & media, hardware and gadgets, networking, servers, operating systems, software and digital security.
Social Twist
ITNewb is more than a technology archive, it's also a feature-rich social network with colorful member profiles, friends lists, activity feeds, profile shouts and private messaging to name a few.
The price of admission is simply an interest in technology with a side order of netiquette. So whether you're looking to learn, socialize or help us build the archive we invite you to join the community. If we haven't convinced you of ITNewb's awesomeness yet, go take a look at our site tour.
How it Started
At the age of 18 when Andrew Johnson (ITNewb's founder) purchased his first computer and began delving into the world of technology he quickly discovered quality material was the proverbial needle and the Internet was the haystack. There were search engines and a few reliable niche sites, but all too often quality was lacking or he simply couldn't find the information he needed.
Thousands of hours were spent looking for information, and for someone getting into the game at such a late age, Andrew found the process of locating the requisite knowledge a given task required to be burdensome and frustrating.
The ideas that eventually gave birth to ITNewb began percolating in mid 2007 when Andrew made the decision to build a helpful web service based around technology. Within a few weeks the plan became clear and Andrew went all in by officially starting ITNewbie Inc, purchasing equipment and embarking on what would prove to be a tedious but rewarding jouney for a single person to tackle.
The Company
ITNewbie, Inc is not funded by any third party investors, and it has no ties to any other websites or similar services. The company is currently a privately held Ohio Corporation, soley owned, operated and funded by its founder.
